  • Abstract Minimalism in Photography: A Simple Guide

    Abstract minimalism

Abstract minimalism combines two styles: minimalism, which is about keeping things simple, and abstract, which is about using shapes and colors to create a feeling or idea. This blog post discusses abstract minimalism, why people like it, and tips for taking these photos.

    What is Abstract Minimalism?

Abstract minimalism in photos is about showing less, to say more. It’s about using simple shapes, lots of space, and not showing things exactly as they are. This kind of photography uses:

    1. Simplicity: Using simple shapes and a few things in the picture.

    2. Empty Space: Using much space to make the main subject stand out.

    3. Abstract: It does not show things clearly, but it uses colors and shapes to give a feeling.

    4. Colors and Contrast: Using strong colors and differences between light and dark to make the picture interesting.

    5. Feeling: These photos make people feel something or think, but everyone might feel or think differently.

Why Do People Like Abstract Minimalism?

    It Looks Nice

These photos are nice to look at because they are simple and clean.

    Feelings

They can make people feel something special or think about the photo’s meaning.

    Creativity

For photographers, this style is a fun challenge. It makes them think of new ways to show things.

How to Take Abstract Minimalist Photos

    1. Look Carefully: Find interesting shapes, textures, and patterns in everyday things.

    2. Think About Arrangement: Decide how to place things in your photo. Use a lot of space.

    3. Play with Colors and Light: Experiment with shadows and bright colors.

    4. Be Abstract: Let your photos be open to different ideas and feelings.

    5. Edit: When you edit your photos, keep them simple and focus on the main ideas.

    Conclusion

Abstract minimalism in photography is about showing simple yet powerful images. It asks the photographer and the viewer to find beauty and meaning in simple things. For photographers, this style can change how you see and take pictures.

Remember, the key to abstract minimalism is its simplicity and the feelings it creates. Keep exploring and trying new things, and enjoy your photography!

  • Photography Advice from my YouTube community.

Photography Advice from my YouTube community.

I made a video about the best advice I got when I was starting out. You can watch it clicking the video below.

I asked in the video what advice have you got or given to others. The amount of great advice was big. It was also so valuable that I decided to list some of the best in this blog post. Not many come back and read the comments.

I think this advice is spot on. You do not need the latest gear to make great photography. If you concentrate more on your photography skills, you will be a far better photographer than you would be if you think about the gear all the time.

Thinking about the image your making is important. Just firing a way will give you a lot of images, but in most cases that would result in good photographs. It does not mean that when things happens you should not make a lot of images if there is a thinking process behind the images.

Practise is the key. Learn you gear to be better. The better you know your gear the less you have to think about it. If you do not have to think about the how on your camera you can concentrate on tghe photography itself.

Enjoying the process is good for you. For many photography is a hobby. Part of the fun is just to go out and enjoy the act of photography. It does not always have to be about the image itself. A great photograph is a bonus.

This comment from @hafzke had many good advice. Worth reading and giving so thought.

This is very important. Shoot for the moment. Being present and in a flow will help a lot when making photographs.

There was a lot of good advice. I picked these. I think these added a lot to my video. Go and read from the comment section of my video. Thank you all who have commented and added much value to the video.

  • Simple Tricks with Forced Perspective in Photography

Forced perspective is a fun way to take pictures that make things look different than they are. It makes small things look big and big things look small. It’s like magic but with a camera! Let’s learn about this cool way of taking pictures.

    What is Forced Perspective?

Long ago, people in movies and plays started using forced perspectives to make things look bigger or smaller. An excellent example of this is the Lord of The Rings movies. It’s like seeing a movie character who looks like a giant or very tiny, but they are not. You can do this in photos, too. You can make a toy look as big as a house or make yourself look as small as an ant!

    How Does it Work?

Forced perspective is about tricking our eyes. When you put something close to the camera and something far away but line them up perfectly, they look like they are the same size. It’s all about where you stand and where you put your camera.

Tips for Taking These Fun Photos:

    1. Think First: Consider what you want to show before taking a photo. Where will things be in your picture?

    2. Move Around: Try standing in different spots and moving your camera. Small changes can make a big difference.

    3. Good Light is Important: Make sure your light is the same on both the front and back things in your photo.

    4. Use Toys and Other Things: You can use toys, food, or anything you like to make fun pictures.

    5. Be Patient: Sometimes, you must try many times to get the perfect photo. Don’t give up!

    Conclusion:

Forced perspective is a great way to have fun with photos. You don’t need to be a pro; you can do it with any camera, even your phone. Try it out and see what cool pictures you can create! I realized that I have never really done any forced perspective photos myself. Need to fix that this week!
